Turn 14 Distribution API: what it is and how to put it on a work order

If you're a Turn 14 dealer, your account can feed live cost, MAP, and warehouse availability straight into the software your counter already uses. Here's what the integration is, what you need, and what it changes about quoting a build.

What you need

  • An active Turn 14 Distribution dealer account
  • A login for the dealer portal at turn14.com
  • Shop software that speaks the Turn 14 API

What the Turn 14 API actually gives you

Turn 14 Distribution is a performance and accessory warehouse distributor, and the API is a dealer service — it is not a public catalog and it is not a price list you can scrape. Connected to your own dealer account, it answers three questions for a given part, in real time:

  • What does it cost me? Your dealer cost, as your account is priced today — not a list price with a guessed discount.
  • What can I sell it for? The brand's MAP, so the number you quote doesn't put your dealer agreement at risk.
  • Can I get it? Warehouse availability, so you find out the kit is backordered while the customer is still standing at the counter instead of three days into the build.

In UpfitOS that search runs inside the work order, across 800,000+ parts and 450+ brands. You never leave the ticket, and the part lands on the line with its cost attached.

Getting your API credentials

  1. Log in to your dealer account at turn14.com.

  2. Open your account settings and look for an API or Integrations section. Turn 14 issues API access as a credential pair: a Client ID and a Client Secret.

  3. Create the credentials if you haven't before, or locate the existing pair, and copy both values. The Client ID is an account identifier, like a username. The Client Secret is a password — treat it like one.

No API section in your portal? API access may not be enabled on your account yet. Ask your Turn 14 rep to turn it on; it's a normal request.

Caution

The Client Secret is full API access to your dealer account. Never send it by email or text — not to a software vendor, not to us. Type it directly into the integration screen that will use it, and nowhere else. Any vendor who asks you to email it is telling you something about how they handle credentials.

Connecting it to UpfitOS

  1. Log in to your UpfitOS site as the shop owner and open Settings → Integrations. Only the owner login can reach that page, because it holds live credentials.

  2. On the Turn 14 Distribution card, enter the Client ID and paste the Client Secret.

  3. Save. The Client ID stays visible; the Client Secret is stored encrypted and the app never shows it again. Leaving the secret field blank on a later save keeps what's stored.

  4. Click Test connection. UpfitOS asks Turn 14 to accept the pair and reports the result on the card. A pass means every work order from then on prices against your own dealer account.

If the test fails, re-copy both values — a stray space or a truncated paste is the usual culprit. If they're definitely right and it still fails, your account's API access may be inactive, which your Turn 14 rep can confirm.

What changes on the counter

The practical difference is where the margin conversation happens. A shop quoting from a printed price sheet decides the sell price first and discovers the cost later. With live dealer pricing on the line item, you build the package — the kit, the wheels, the tires, the labor — and watch the margin while you build it. When a brand moves cost, the next package you quote already knows.

Pair it with your own shelf stock and the picture closes: UpfitOS reads SkuLabs levels for the SKUs you keep on hand, so each line shows both what's on your shelf and what the warehouse has. That's the answer to the question every accessory shop asks when it goes shopping for software — what's actually tracking the in and out of parts.

Note

This guide is written for Turn 14 dealers evaluating the integration. If you're already an UpfitOS customer setting it up, the step-by-step support version lives at Connect Turn 14 Distribution, and support@upfitos.com reaches a person.
